Benjamin Lanz is a Multi-instrumentalist, Trombonist, Composer, and Song Writer, based in Brooklyn, New York and Paris, France. Currently on tour as part of the band, The National, Benjamin is also a member of the band Beirut, and long time touring band member for Sufjan Stevens. Along with these groups, Benjamin fronts two main songwriting projects, LNZNDRF, a Kraut/Psych band with Bryan, Scott Devendorf, and Aaron Arntz, and a singer-songwriter solo project, LANZ. He has also formed a new Post Rock, Post Jazz project with John Colpitts, (aka Kid Millions) Million Lands, as well as various other projects and team ups, both in concert and in the studio. Outside of, but not unrelated to these pursuits, Benjamin is involved in performative Electro-acoustics, both as a performer, championing new music for the trombone via commissioning new works, and as a composer, writing and performing pieces for solo and chamber ensembles, and electronics.
